Red Bull Racing aims at the Russian pilot

Nikolay Martsenko started his collaboration with the Red Bull Racing team. It’s not a ticket to Formula 1 yet, it just helps the pilot to make more serious preparations for the Formula Renault 3.5 Series.

Nikolay Martsenko has visited the team’s headquarters in Milton Keynes recently and tried hand in driving a simulator set up as the Formula Renault 3.5 race car to learn the track in Jerez, which is unfamiliar to him. The experts from the Red Bull Racing will also work on improving his fit and stamina.

A lot of information will be available to Martsenko and he will be able to compare it with the data from the Red Bull's young driver programme letting him master his racing skills and make good preparations for the upcoming competitions. Needless to say, Nikolay is excited by the events: “I am happy to start cooperating with the Red Bull Racing. Although driving a simulator is quite different from driving a real car on the track, this experience will let me improve my racing skills and raise my qualification as a pilot”. Red Bull was also pleased with the first meeting and the next one is scheduled for April 11–13, right before the Formula Renault 3.5 race which will be held in Monza.

Let's not make premature plans, but everything points at the fact that if Nikolay Martsenko has a successful World Series by Renault 3.5 season, he might start thinking about the F1 — support is available, management job has been done, self-improvement is in progress. Also add the preparations made on the Red Bull champion grounds to that. As the old saying goes — there is no smoke without fire.
