Just days before the first appearance of the X4 there is another premiere pending. The new car is an actual BMW X1 sibling but featuring a more “blusterous” character. First of all, it will aim for a sportier image; secondly, its standard version will offer an all-wheel-drive layout (featuring a hydraulic multi-plate clutch which activates the rear axle).
As reported by Bimmerpost quoting its own sources, the new X2 might come in a five-door or three-door format. The crossover will be equipped with either three- or four-cylinder petrol or diesel turbocharged engines with capacity ranging from 1.5 to 2.0 litres. It will be offered with either six-speed manual or eight-speed automatic transmission.
According to auto.vesti.ru, first news about BMW X2 appeared in autumn 2013. It was then reported that the crossover was to be built on the front-wheel drive UKL platform, the same as used in the new Mini and BMW Active Tourer. However, there are no plans on producing the BMW X2 with either front-wheel-drive or rear-wheel-drive layout yet. Apparently, quite soon we will have more information about the Bavarian fellow or maybe even about its M Performance version with the latter remaining just a reasonable presumption.
