Jacques Villeneuve will take part in the legendary Indy 500 race also known as the Indianapolis 500-Mile Race which will be held on May 24, 2014 at the famous oval circuit. According to Racer, the 1997 Formula 1 champion will be driving one out of three Schmidt Peterson Motorsports race cars. The Canadian driver will join Simon Pagenaud and Mikhail Aleshin, the Russian pilot from the SMP Racing team.
It is not going to be the first marathon race for the 42-year-old driver. Villeneuve scored Indy 500 victory back in 1995 with the Team Green. In addition to taking part in the Formula series, Jacques will compete in the rallycross championship in 2014. Formula 1 former champion will be driving Peugeot 208 in the 12-round series.
