There are some certain cars which seem to be in the league of their own. You could count them on the fingers on one hand. They are fraught with controversy but have their own enthusiasts. And opponents as well. We are talking about powerful sports... station wagons! Now it’s the turn of the British engineers to make a statement in this category. Autocar published the first photos of the Jaguar XFR-S Sportbrake. Everyone wishing to get acquainted with the “multipurpose soldier” might do it at the Geneva Motor Show.
XFR-S sedan was used as the base of this car. The station wagon inherited its aggressive aerodynamic exterior and powertrain — 5-litre petrol supercharged V8 delivering 550 hp and 680 Nm of torque. It is fitted with the automatic 8-speed gearbox produced by ZF.
What concerns the car’s performance, it’s able to do 0–100 km/h sprint in 4.6 seconds and its top speed is electronically limited to 300 km/h. The wagon will be a bit heavier, which makes sense, thus losing some points in dynamics.
Jaguar XFR-S Sportbrake will pit against Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG and Audi RS6 Avant in the market. Its price tag will be around £80,000 ($133,000).
