Fifty years later

After 50 years of non-existence Ermini, the Italian car brand, rose from the ashes like a phoenix and will unveil its new sports car at the Geneva Motor Show in March — the conceptual 320-hp Seiottosei (Italian for 686). The information about the brand’s resurrection and production plans appeared in the autumn of 2012. The concept of the sports car is rather traditional — tubular space frame and carbon fibre body. The car weighs just 686 kg. Its length is 4,120 mm, width 1,850 mm, wheelbase 2,600 mm, the track is 1,625 mm on the front and 1,595 mm on the rear.

Ermini Seiottosei will be equipped with a 2-litre 16-valve turbocharged 4-cylinder engine produced by Renault. The motor will deliver 320 horsepower. Ermini equips the Seiottosei with a Sadev 6-speed sequential gearbox, 17-inch OZ aluminium wheels, Toyo tyres, Brembo brakes. Taking into consideration the sports car’s weight, it will sprint to 100 km/h in 3.5 seconds while its top speed is electronically limited to 270 km/h.

The history of Ermini began in the post-war Florence in 1946. Its sports cars were constantly participating in different competitions in the end of the 40s — beginning of the 50s including Targa Florio and Mille Miglia. The last vehicle produced by this company was sold in 1962 and was followed by the company’s shut down.
