McLaren has revealed details of its new 650S. According to the company’s representatives, the new model will not replace MP4–12C and both of these cars will have parallel production lines. The sports car will be fitted with the already familiar 3.8-litre twin-turbocharged V8; however, it now delivers 650 hp in comparison with 625 hp produced by its “younger” version. 678 Nm of torque is transmitted to the rear wheels with the help of a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. Sprint from 0 to 100 km/h takes just 3.0 seconds and to 200 km/h — 8.4 seconds. Its top speed is electronically limited to 333 km/h. It is reported that the car’s suspension was also upgraded — it has 22 per cent stiffer springs front and rear and its adaptive shock absorbers now have three stiffness levels (Normal, Sport and Track). The car’s exterior might confuse an inexperienced person — its front part resembles McLaren’s flagship P1 and rear part looks like the MP4–12C. We are looking forward to the first performance tests of the McLaren 650S conducted by the famous automobile magazines.
