Crossover trend is popular even among such luxury giants as Aston Martin. According to Autocar magazine, the British car manufacturer did not put aside plans on creating a SUV. And it’s quite possible that it will be built on the same platform as the one used by the Mercedes-Benz GL.

Daimler Chief Executive Dieter Zetsche noted that the German auto group is open for cooperation but he would prefer the German side to participate in a rather “subtle” way in the process of creating the SUV, which is going to appear by 2017 according to Aston Martin. It follows that most likely there will be no external signs of presence of the German brand in the construction of the “thoroughbred” British profile.

The concept of crossover was unveiled by Aston Martin back in 2009. However, Lagonda (this is how it was named) met with a mixed reaction of the potential customers. Yet the platform for the concept had been already borrowed from the Mercedes GL crossover.

In his interview to Autocar Dieter Zetsche also said that the final form of cooperation between two carmakers would depend on the intentions and requests of the British side.
