As part of his pre-season IndyCar training, Mikhail Aleshin, the SMP Racing programme pilot, took part in another test session held at the Sebring Raceway (USA, Florida).
Previously, Mikhail Aleshin has already participated in two test sessions at the Sebring Raceway. During one of them he demonstrated best results among the pilots from seven teams. Last week Mikhail had successful tests held on the oval track at Homestead-Miami Speedway. IndyCar commission members were watching the tests and noted the high qualification level of the SMP Racing pilot. On February 4 and 5 Mikhail Aleshin participated in another test series at the Sebring Raceway (USA, Florida).
Sebring Raceway is one of the oldest continuously-operating race tracks in the United States, its first race being run in 1950. The tests were performed on the Short Circuit. When speaking about the results of the test, Mikhail says he is satisfied though the track was rather difficult and also, unlike the cars of other participants equipped with two turbos, the car he was driving was fitted with only one turbo. What concerns the overall results, Mikhail was second on the first day and third among 10 other participants on the second day of the sessions. Mikhail also noted that during the previous tests more attention was paid to different adjustments of the car.
“These tests were highly productive. Both days we were adjusting the cars, tried out different variants and solutions of various tasks which I am going to face at the IndyCar. Testing different adjustment variants was more important for us than setting best lap times. And our efforts were not in vain — the results are just fantastic, we came across many interesting things. I am really happy with the results!” Mikhail Aleshin stated.
Mikhail Aleshin, the SMP Racing programme pilot, will be the first Russian to participate in IndyCar — one of the most prestigious “Formula” series. Mikhail Aleshin will race with car No. 7 during the entire season. The season-opening race will be held in St. Petersburg (USA, Florida) on March 30.
