Hypercar One:1 produced by the Swedish Koenigsegg has already been nicknamed “a Bugatti Veyron killer” by its manufacturers. And though they always add “theoretically”, the new car might really become the fastest vehicle on our planet.

One cannot call Koenigsegg One:1 the all-new model. Like all other company’s models, this one is based on the construction which was developed about 10 years ago when the Swedes had just entered this market.

What concerns the engine, it’s a 5-litre twin-turbocharged V8 producing 1400 hp. As the car features a lot of carbon fibre details its weight is only 1400 kg. Therefore there is 1 hp per each 1 kg of the nominally production vehicle. Apart from the fact that it’s a unique result for production vehicles, this ratio provided the basis for the name of the hypercar — one to one.

The company’s engineers estimate that the car’s top speed should reach 450 km/h. If these calculations prove true, Koenigsegg One:1 will become the fastest production vehicle in the world. The major rivals of the Swedes in this competition are Bugatti Veyron (430.9 km/h) and the American Hennessey Venom GT (427.6 km/h).

Apart from the record-setting top speed, the car was designed to literally tear all competitors into pieces in several other “typical” performance measurements. Particularly, it promises to be the fastest in 0–200 km/h, the 0–300 km/h and even 0–400 km/h sprints. It should take only 20 seconds for the One:1 to accelerate to 400 km/h. Bugatti Veyron is almost twice as slow in a similar test. Whether the vehicle is able to bring joy to the Swedish carmakers depends a lot on the possibility of Koenigsegg to make arrangements with any tire manufacturer to produce unique tires with the help of which One:1 will be able to reach its highs.

What’s interesting is that One:1 is limited to only 6 units. Even before its debut at the Geneva Motor Show all six of them have already found their owners who acquired the cars at a $2 million price tag per unit. However, One:1 will be certainly demonstrated at the show.
