Sport Auto journalists conducted performance tests of the two top SUVs —BMW X6 M vs. Porsche Cayenne Turbo S. Both these cars feature serious technical specifications and performance worth of sports cars. BMW hides an 8-cylinder 4.4-litre twin-turbocharged engine under its bonnet. It produces 555 hp and 680 Nm of torque. The powertrain of Cayenne comprises a 4.8-litre V8 which is also twin-turbocharged. This engine produces 550 hp and 750 Nm of torque. Though both cars produce almost the same power, Porsche turned out be faster on a straight line and that is perhaps due to its 8-speed automatic gearbox and 100 kg lighter weight. Cayenne was also better in steering — the newer version was faster than BMW both on the lap and in slalom competitions. Below you can find the results of the tests:
