The manufacturing company of luxurious cars and tuning studios customising the products of this company are constantly producing news. What did they prepare this time? DMC tuning studio based in Düsseldorf designed a special variant of Bentley Continental GT coupé for the Chinese (!) market. The name of the new model is Duro.
Duro features carbon fibre body parts including front and rear bumpers, diffuser and side skirts, matte black colour of the entire car, the upgraded interior trim, titanium exhaust system and sports air filters. The engine control unit was also readjusted.
Bentley Continental GT Duro was built on the base of the S modification fitted with a 4-litre twin turbocharged V8 engine. The power of the vehicle was increased from 528 hp (680 Nm) to 672 hp (780 Nm). The new model accelerates up to 100 km/h in 4.5 seconds and its top speed reaches 325 km/h (while the top speed of the basic model is 309 km/h).
For the European fans of the brand Bentley is going to produce a special edition of its flagship model Mulsanne which is going to wear the name of the famous British racing driver Sir Henry “Tim” Birkin, who competed for Bentley in the 1920s-1930s. Two-time Le Mans winner is heading a group of car enthusiasts known as Bentley Boys. This edition will be offered with a run of 22 cars only.
These cars will be based on Mulliner Driving Specification which adds a “Sport” mode with its Drive Dynamics Control system. The latter deals with suspension tuning and steering control. The customers will be able to choose between one of three exclusive colours — Ghost White, Fountain Blue and Dark Sapphire.
The cars will be equipped with 8-inch LCD screens in the rear of the seat headrests, Wi-Fi hotspot, DVD player, iPads integrated into the picnic tables and Naim audio system.
Technical specifications of the vehicle remain the same. It has a 6.75-litre 8-cylinder twin-turbocharged powerplant producing 505 hp and 8-speed automatic gearbox.
Sir Henry “Tim” Birkin was born in 1896. It was his idea to equip Bentley 4 ½ Litre with a mechanical supercharger. Thanks to compressor installation the power of the model increased from 130 to 242 hp which allowed keeping the car compatible in racing competitions.
In 1929 Birkin won 24 hours of Le Mans behind the wheel of Bentley Speed Six.
