Straight after the news from Detroit about the new model which is going to be produced by the iconic electric car manufacturer, there came the news about the recall of Tesla vehicles. Almost 30,000 electric cars fall under the recall due to a defect of battery charging adapter. It was reported recently by the US National Highway Transportation Safety Administration.

2013 Model S 5-door sedans turned out to be faulty. According to Tesla Motors representative, the adapter and power cable might overheat during charging. The risk of fire is also possible. As stated by Tesla, the company had already performed a remote software update of the vehicles which is going to prevent adapter overheating.

In November 2013 the US government initiated an investigation due to fire outbreaks of several Model S cars after the accidents. Among other things, the American authorities are planning to check whether the batteries situated close to the bottom of the electric car are secure against any physical impact.

Tesla Motors stated at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit that in the fourth quarter of 2013 they sold 6.9 thousands of Model S electric cars which was 20% more than it had been scheduled. All in all, the company sold more than 22 thousands of such electric cars last year.

Let us remind that in 2014 Tesla is planning to start supplying its customers with Model X crossover which is beating all records in popularity even before the launch of its production.
