A high-performance version of the Honda S660 roadster might start rolling off the production line in 2016. The car is likely to wear the S1000 badge. It will be developed in cooperation with Honda’s racing arm Mugen.

Engine options remain unconfirmed so far. The high-performance model is likely to carry a 1.0-litre turbocharged engine delivering 140 hp unlike the standard version fitted with a 0.5-litre engine that produces 65 hp.

The car is reportedly going to feature a more aggressive styling than the S660 and larger light-alloy wheels. The more powerful version will have revised suspension, brakes and steering. It will have the same weight as the S660 model — around 990 kg. Apart from hitting Japanese showrooms, the high-performance version is also expected to go on sale in Europe.
