As part of the international project Formula SAE, 30 students from two Swiss universities have built an electric sports car, which turned out to be faster than any current electric vehicle and is even able to outperform the Bugatti Veyron. It sprints to 100 km/h in a whopping 1.785 seconds.
The previous record belongs to a car created by Delft University students. It took it just 2.134 sec to accelerate to 100 km/h.
This time the students from two Swiss universities have teamed up to create a car that produces 200 horsepower and generates a total torque of 1,630 Nm. Each wheel is equipped with an electric motor. The car’s body is designed to resemble a Formula E race car. It has a carbon fibre construction and a total weight of 168 kg.
