BMW and Toyota are getting ready with a roadster concept and their work is coming to an end. The new model is likely to have a Z5 name and a body made of carbon fibre.
The companies have demarcated their responsibilities. Toyota is in charge of the technical part, while BMW deals with the car’s exterior and interior styling.
The roadster is reported to carry a 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbocharged engine that has three different output numbers: 190 hp, 245 hp, and 270 hp. A more powerful version fitted with a six-cylinder 400-hp engine is also likely to turn up. As for the car’s appearance, the new model will borrow some traits from the Vision ConnectedDrive concept.
All works are on schedule so far. There is no word yet about the debut date of the new model, but it’s unlikely to happen prior to 2017.
