Fiat Chrysler Automobiles wants to spin off Ferrari as an independent company once and for all. But that’s not the end of the plan. In 2015, 10 percent of Ferrari’s shares will be sold in a public offering.

“As we move forward to secure the 2014–2018 business plan and work toward maximizing the value of our businesses to our shareholders, it is proper that we pursue separate paths for FCA and Ferrari," Fiat Chrysler CEO Sergio Marchionne said.

As reported by Reuters, 90 percent of Ferrari shares will be distributed among FCA shareholders. By the way, this list includes Fiat's founding Agnelli family. The rest will be listed in the U.S. and possibly European exchange.

Ferrari plans to secure investments to help fund the company’s €48-billion turnaround plan.
