Before proceeding with introduction of new models to BMW’s lineup, the company’s designers decided that it’s time to diversify styling of the next-gen models.

It is still unclear whether the changes in design of the 1-, 3-, 5-, and 7-Series are going to be drastic as so far the main emphasis is put on original lighting technology.

“We want each and every model to have its own little world. We think that’s important in a market where we sell two million cars [BMW, Mini, Rolls-Royce] this year. We need to maintain exclusivity, and if anything we will make them more separate,” Karim Habib, BMW design chief, told Autocar.

The 7-Series is the first in line to get the updates. The flagship sedan will be revealed at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show.
