The first car produced during CEO Sergio Marchionne’s tenure will be revealed at next spring's Geneva Motor Show. Right now, the company is developing an electric turbocharger, however, its “firstling”, the Ferrari 458, is unlikely to adopt this technology.
The new Ferrari 458 will be fitted with an eight-cylinder downsized engine. As reported by Autocar, it will be a 3.8-litre turbocharged mill. It will rival the McLaren 650S.
An interesting fact is that the engine displacement was reduced not only due to environmental care but also with an eye to the Chinese market. China charges a high import tax on car purchases, making the Ferrari 458 equipped with a 4.5-litre V8 a bad buy. The new version is likely to have a positive impact on company’s sales.
