Lykan HyperSport from W Motors from Beirut became one of the most expensive luxury sports cars. Concept car was developed by Middle East engineers during almost 6 years.
European companies also took part in development of the hypercar: RUF Automobile tuning shop from Gemany, Magna Steyr — an Austrian component manufacturer, design and bodywork was made with help of Italian Italy Studio Torino and Viotti, ID4MOTION was engaged to electronic systems development. All components were assembled at W Motors plant, located in Beirut.
About the company
W Motors Automobile Company was founded in Lebanon in July 2012 by two co-founders — Al-Khalil Sari and Ralph Debbas, who acts as a chairman of the company. Headquarters are located in Dubai (OAE).
Main characteristics of the new supercar can be compared with McLaren P1, Ferrari LaFerrari and the Porsche 918 Spyder, but for the price of Lykan Hypersport you can buy all that cars together. So than it is not a big surprise that the first customer is from Qatar, Sheikh Hamad bin Javan Al-Thani, son of the Emir of Qatar. The first car should be sent to him in September 2014.
Posh 2-door hypercar Lykan HyperSport with futuristic design was presented in January 2013 at Qatar Auto Show. At the same time this luxury car has become available to order. There were got about 100 orders, including the one from Russia, and this fact made the company to think about a possible increase of production. For the present day there are only 7 ready cars, one of which was showed at the auto show in Dubai in November 2013.

This sports car is a two-door coupe with rear mid-engine rear wheel drive and a limited slip differential. Wheelbase is 2625 mm, length — 4480 mm, width — 1944 mm, height — 1170 mm. Its curb weight is 1380 kg. Lykan HyperSport is equipped with flat-six 3.7L engine with two turbochargers, with 552 kW (750 hp) of power output and 960 Nm of torque. W Motors says that this motor was developed by them, but we already know about their collaboration with the RUF company, which is known as Porsche tuning company.
6-speed sequential gearbox has two clutches. Hypercar is equipped with 6-piston brakes with carbon-ceramic 380-millimeter rotors. Wheels are 19-inch front ones and 20-inch rear ones.
All this technical stuff allows Lykan HyperSport to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 2.8 seconds and acceleration to 200 km/h takes 9.4 seconds. Top speed is 390 km/h this is 100 km/h higher than the «Airbus» takeoff speed. Fuel consumption in the city is 20 liters, in combined cycle — 13.5 liters, and in the highway — 9.9 liters per 100 kilometers, correspondingly.
Thus Lykan Hypersport is the main competitor for Koenigsegg Agera R and Bugatti Veyron. For comparison, the French Bugatti Veyron Super Sport has 1200 hp, top speeds are at 450 km/h level and it accelerates to 100 km/h in 2.5 seconds, while it is much cheaper than Lebanese luxury hypercar.
