To the collection. DTM: The official yearbook

We’d rather not begin with apologies but, apparently, we’ll have to. The Russian version of the Official DTM Yearbook 2013 went on sale in August and we have not reported about it up to now. But as they say, it’s better late than never, so let me tell you about this notable event.

We’d rather not begin with apologies but, apparently, we’ll have to. The Russian version of the Official DTM Yearbook 2013 went on sale in August and we have not reported about it up to now. But as they say, it’s better late than never, so let me tell you about this notable event.

The fact is that this book has been published annually for quite a long time; however, its only language has always been German up until now. This year, Korsa Media (promoter of the series in Russia) has established a unique precedent by translating the yearbook into Russian and offering it to an interested reader.

This hardbound edition in excellent printing quality, full of bright exclusive photography, has set my heart aflutter. Perhaps, that is because the DTM series is yet unfamiliar to the Russian audience (and readers in particular) and is perceived as something exotic. Or maybe that is because it’s a truly classy edition that can be put on the same shelf with art and paintings books.

The yearbook gives details on all racing tracks, the reader is familiarised with each stage, each team, and the best drivers and gets behind the scenes of the championship and even learns some of its organisational secrets. What is even more important is that all this information is abundantly flavoured with illustrations.

The first translated edition is dedicated to the 2013 season. The reason is that the DTM series made its debut in Russia in 2013 with one of its rounds held on the track of the Moscow Raceway, a racing circuit located near Moscow.

The publisher promises to release a special edition based on the results of the 2014 season, as it is the first year in the history of the series when a Russian driver is piloting a DTM race car — Vitaly Petrov has joined the Mercedes team.

The yearbook is a limited edition of 1,500 copies and, as far as I know, there are around 200 unsold copies left. Moreover, starting from October, its price has been reduced and now the DTM yearbook is available for 750 RUB (its previous price tag was 1,500 RUB) at website address below: www.korsaclub.ru/store
