Hyundai joined forces with the tuning experts at Bisimoto Engineering to develop a 708-hp Sonata sedan, which will be revealed at the annual SEMA show in the United States.
The sedan made its debut at this year’s New York Auto Show. The Sonata offers a choice of two engines — a 2.4-litre 4-cylinder GDI mill delivering 186 hp and a 2.0-litre turbocharged engine tuned to produce 245 hp. LED headlights, spoiler, and 16-inch wheels come as standard.
The engineers from South Korea and the American tuner were able to create a truly powerful version of the Hyundai Sonata, getting the most out a 2.4-litre engine. They installed forged pistons, a turbocharger, and new rods. The intake and exhaust systems were modified. The engine is coupled to an upgraded six-speed manual transmission. As a result, the sedan produces 708 horsepower.
As the car has become much more powerful, the engineers fitted it with a roll cage. The facelifted Sonata also features a new spoiler and 18-inch wheels.
All other details will be revealed on November 4th at the SEMA show held in Las Vegas.
