Cadillac to warn about danger

To keep pace with emerging innovations, Cadillac decided to fit their vehicles with intelligence systems. GM CEO Mary Barra made a rather ambitious statement at the World Congress on Intelligent Transportation Systems held in Detroit. In her speech, she said that within the next couple of years Cadillac’s production vehicles will be fitted with a self-driving Super Cruise option that allows for hands-free driving on the highway.

Moreover, in 2017 the CTS sedan will be equipped with a V2V (vehicle-to-vehicle) communication technology, which will be able to warn the driver about the approaching vehicles before he or she could see it.

The system will also be able to take urgent measures in order to avoid an accident without a driver's input. Quite soon, the system will feature many other options like, for instance, vehicle-to-pedestrian or vehicle-to-infrastructure technologies.

The question is what role is assigned to the “homo sapiens” system, which should actually drive this entire extravaganza.
