Land Rover decided not to keep SUV enthusiasts waiting any longer and revealed all secrets of the new Discovery Sport. It will make an official debut at the Paris Motor Show.

Land Rover Discovery Sport offers two variants of a 2.2-litre diesel-powered engine and one more petrol-powered Si4 delivering 240 hp mated to a new 9-speed ZF automatic transmission. As for the diesel engines, those are a TD4 version delivering 150 hp and a SD4 engine tuned to produce 190 hp. Both of them can be mated to manual transmission as well.

On the outside, the car is 24 cm shorter than the Discovery model and 9 cm longer than the Freelander. Inside, there is a new steering wheel, multimedia system and dashboard. Further down along the console is a rotary gearshift control, familiar in current Jaguars.

One of the car’s most interesting features is the Terrain Response system. It maximises the car’s capability in various challenging conditions: gravel, grass, snow, sand, dirt, and ruts. New is the emergency braking system. For the lazy and trustful drives, the new Discovery Sport offers an automatic parking function, which can steer the vehicle into and out of a parallel parking space or parking bay.

Some sweet — Range Rover SVR!
