BMW decided to launch production of four new front-wheel drive models by 2017.
The Bavarian manufacturer is really pleased with the first front-wheel drive vehicle in its history — 2-Series Active Tourer — which should go on sale on September 27. The company has plans to launch production of four more models based on the UKL platform.
Next year, the Active Tourer will get an additional row of seats, making it a considerably longer 7-seater. Together with that, the company will go for a front-wheel drive BMW X1. Moreover, the latter will also get a hybrid powerplant delivering 190 hp.
The X2 coupé-style SUV is due to arrive a year later.
The Z2 roadster and the new-generation 1-Series with engines not exceeding 1.5L are scheduled to hit the market only by 2017.
