Former BMW designer Kevin Rice will head the Mazda's European design team.
“We are fortunate to have a successor [for Birtwhistle] of such great talent. Kevin will continue Peter's work, giving Mazda the necessary continuity while at the same time representing a new generation of designers," Mazda Europe CEO Jeff Guyton gave his comment on Kevin Rice’s nomination.
After 13 years at BMW, Kevin Rice was appointed as Mazda Motor Europe’s new design director effective September 1. Quite recently, the company has switched to “KODO — Soul of Motion” design theme and Mazda 6, 3, and CX-5 have been revised.
The company is not going to rest on its laurels, it has a lot of ideas to implement. Moreover, the debut of the new MX-5 roadster will be made two days after Rice enters the office.
