Mazda assume that it’s time for them to launch production of a baby hot hatch. Mazda global sales and marketing general manager Yasuhiro Aoyama said a project like that could stir the interest of the customers.
Engine options for the Mazda 2 remain unconfirmed. It might be powered by a 2.0-litre naturally aspirated SkyActiv mill used in Mazda 3 or by a 1.5-litre turbocharged engine created for the new-generation MX-5 roadster.
At the moment, the company is busy talking about the hot-hatch so it’s too early to come to any conclusions. There is always a chance that this idea may be ruled out.
