On 1st and 2nd of November 2013, SV-Engineering surprised the automotive scene by participating in the Gymkhana GRiD Finals in Madrid with their infamous Juke R.
A few years ago, Ken Block brought his Gymkhana brand to the masses, through his viral videos in his Gymkhana series of exhibitions. With its origins dating back to a style of horse racing, the Gymkhana brand autocross requires not only physical driving skills, but mental training as well. Courses are set up with both precision driving and high speed in mind, with a pre-determined sequence of drifts, figure 8s, donuts, and slaloms that the driver must memorize.
The Gymkhana battlefield is not exactly what Juke R is built for, says Misha Charoudin from SV Engineering, but nevertheless we accepted the challenge when being invited by James Gilbert from Monster Energy. We’re always in to face new challenges, meet new friends and most of all — have some fun! I think we can conclude that all the three aspects were completed successfully: We have tested and proven that the car can perform well under these unique circumstances, while putting up a good show for the crowd.
One must acknowledge though, that the car was initially built for drag racing competition and somewhat adapted for occasional use on the race track — Gymkhana was never considered until so far. Therefore, apart from essential suspension setup it also lacks manual gearbox with the ability to (dis)engage the clutch. Also, the e-brake installed is a stock one, only for parking purposes. This acknowledged, we would like to congratulate the Juke R pilot Vladimir Ulanov with his second place in the AWD class, while having only two pedals to play with.
The short notice did not offer any time for mechanical changes, however quick but noticeable exterior adjustments were made. The Juke R runs now on JDM aftermarket iconic VOLK RACING TE37’s in red supplied by Atomic Sportscars, but the most influential change is probable the new look designed and applied by StickerDUMP.com in less than 24 hours when the Juke R made a pit stop at their shop in Holland on its way to Madrid from Saint Petersburg. The new colorful and cheerful scheme was a perfect fit for the bright Gymkhana environment under the Spanish sun.
SV Engineering would like to thank all of its team members and everyone else for the essential support, and most of all Monster Energy for the initial invitation. This amazing experience has made SV Engineering long for more Gymkhana action, which only puts a smile on our face. Some rumors were overheard they even want to build a Gymkhana-spec Juke R for next year...
But before the above will be realized, SV Engineering team and their Juke R have one more task to complete: Unlim 500+ — Destination: Greece. Dragtimes.info, the organization behind world- famous Moscow Unlim 500+ drag race battle is bringing this event for the first time outside Russia. The event will take place on the Tympaki airfield of the island of Crete on the 16th + 17th of November. Apart from the Juke R, Russia will be represented by the cars such as 2000 hp Total Race Saleen S7, 1750 hp UR TT Gallardo and Nissan GT-R Alpha 12+ with 1750 hp.
