Aston Martin is developing the new-generation DB9 supercar fitted with an AMG engine. The Aston Martin DB9 is scheduled to arrive in 2016. The engine for the supercar is now being developed by the AMG division. Apparently, they are not planning to build the all-new engines, but will adopt the existing ones to meet Aston Martin’s requirements.
As reported by Autocar, the main task is to add British features to the 4.0-litre engine. All modifications will be limited to engine control unit, exhaust and turbo boost. The new V8 is expected to deliver around 520 hp. The AMG will also deal with the engine sound. The next-gen Aston Martin DB9 will get a 9-speed automatic unlike the current DB9, which uses a 6-speed transmission.
Well, the main topic under discussion at the company’s headquarters is not about the technical specs. Aston Martin are confronted with a question, what number should stand after the DB letters. There is no out-of-the-box solution so far but we might expect them to use the DB8 name, which has been previously skipped.
