Land speed record for a pickup truck was set eight years ago and quite soon it might be beaten.
HSV, the performance vehicle partner of Australian automobile manufacturer Holden, is going to build a modification of the Maloo pickup truck, which is bound to beat its own speed record of 271.44 km/h.
The name of the new model is the GTS Maloo. Under the bonnet, sits a 6.2-litre supercharged Chevrolet LSA V8, which was used in the Chevrolet Camaro sports car. What concerns transmission, it will be available with manual or automatic gearbox and will even have the gearshift levers behind the steering wheel for the most sophisticated customers.
The car features redesigned engine and transmission cooling, high-strength differential, and performance suspension set-up.
It will be a limited edition of just 150 units with the estimated price of €85,000 each.
