BMW plan to launch production of the sports X2 Coupé Crossover in 2017.
According to company’s plans, the first car to arrive in 2016 is the facelifted BMW X1 and next will be the turn of a 2-door X2 built on its base. As reported by Auto Express, it will get a front-wheel drive UKL1 platform; however, BMW is not going to opt out of the AWD version either.
An entire lineup of petrol-powered engines will be available for the crossover, however, the major focus is on diesel-powered version fitted with a 1.5-litre 3-cylinder or 2.0-litre 4-cylinder engine.
The petrol-powered versions will be equipped with a 1.5-litre 140-hp turbocharged powerplant or an even more powerful 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine delivering around 300 hp.
