BMW decided to restore the 507 roadster, which was owned by Elvis Presley from 1958 to 1962.
The restoration is expected to take two years. Elvis Presley purchased the white roadster back in 1958, when stationed in Germany while serving in the Army, for the price of $3,000. By the way, Presley upgraded it straight away: he had it repainted in red and replaced the engine.
However, four years later he sold it. The next owner replaced a 3.2-litre V8 delivering 150 hp with a US-made powerplant featuring the same amount of cylinders. The car was fitted with Borg-Warner transmission and General Motors rear axle. The BMW 507 participated in several races.
In 1968, it was acquired by a Californian engineer Jack Castor, who had a desire to restore the vehicle. However, he never found the time to do that. The legendary car was later shipped to BMW headquarters, where it is now awaiting the possible restoration.
