Audi and Porsche are feuding over the new platform which has to be used in their cars.
Someone from the Volkswagen auto group decided one day that both Audi and Porsche could be using a common MSB modular platform. It had to be developed under Porsche’s supervision for the next-generation Panamera and even several Bentley models. Audi A7 and A8 were on the same page. However, Audi don’t agree with that, as they want to use their own platform — the MLB Evo. In return, Porsche point at some drawbacks of the platform, like, for instance, “compromised suspension system," an "inadequate electronic architecture" and “limited powertrain flexibility”.
Both companies suggest numerous counterarguments against each other as if speaking different languages. However, there is always a third party involved in any conflict.
The role of instigators was taken by the engineers from Lamborghini, who pursue their own goals. They will have to borrow a platform for the next generation of their Huracan supercar. The Italians have their peculiar outlook on life: all they need is more carbon fibre. Also, they have doubts that the platform built for the 6- and 8-cylinder Porsche’s flat engines would be suitable for the V-shaped Audi’s engines.
Please don’t fight! It is unknown, who is going to win in this battle for the platforms; however, they might come up with one more variant so that everyone could have a row with everyone.
