WRX. Record victory of Bakkerud

Andreas Bakkerud was the first Norwegian who won on his home round of the Cross Country Rally World Cup.

However, this achievement records racer Hoonigan Racing Division teams were not limited.

World Championship in rally-cross has such a long history — a series of such status is conducted only for the third time, and before it was the European Championship. However, this does detract from any another record Bakkerud — he became the first in the history of World RX racer, won absolutely all races in which he participated during the stage.

On account of Andreas victory in all four qualifying sessions, the first place in the first semi-final race and the first position in the final. And all this got Norwegian, speaking at the wheel of a brand new Ford Focus RS RX — another achievement of the rider, who brought the first victory of the latest car.

The qualifying heats were overshadowed by two incidents. However, they clouded the mood of the riders, but the audience must have been delighted — there's nothing to do about it, is bolelschitsky nature.

First unlucky Anton Marklund — his Volkswagen Polo on fire in the first qualifying and in the race the Swede took the last place.

Another loser was the Liam Doran. In the second qualification also held on Saturday, in one of the races, he has a «roof» in several turns. His Mini received a serious injury, but his team mechanics worked all night and were able to prepare the machine for a Sunday arrival.

The Briton did not made it to the semi-final race, but not because of the poor condition of the car, but because of its own low speed.

«Roof» Doran:

But «losers» qualification can be called and the other riders do not fall into serious trouble.

Ken Block had technical problems, and it took last place in the fourth qualifying. The current world champion in rally-cross Petter Solberg was not similar to itself — on his home track Norwegian only to the final session of qualifying races groped acceptable pace, showing the second result. In the first three qualifiers, he was twice fourth and once sixth.

Not much better things were going from Sebastien Loeb — the second, third, fourth and seventh place in qualifying. And absolutely «by cash» Norwegian stage leader spent the season Mattias Ekström — the third, fifth, seventh and ninth place in the qualifying heats!

But if not lucky «stars», who took their usual places in the group of leaders? Led stage Andreas Bakkerud, but apart from him in Helle, where he held a Norwegian stage of world rallycross, and was another driver, the performance of which was a pleasure to watch — it's Russian Timur Timerzyanov.

Kazan man the first time in a long time on the track felt at ease. The first three qualifying, he finished in the top three, and the fourth was the sixth. According to the results of preliminary races Timerzyanov was on the second position after the irrepressible Bakkerud.

Starting from pole position won the second semifinal Timur check-in and went to the finals — for the second time in a row this season. However, the final stage of the race Timerzyanov finished last...

It is good start and immediately drove to the «joker-lap.» In the course of arrival Russians went in perfect pace and pretended to finish ahead of the riders who rode ahead of him, but postponed the race on the «wild card» until the last lap. And all would be well, if not for the puncture.

Timur damage the rubber immediately became an easy prey to their pursuers. First I caught up with him and «dragged» to turn out ahead of Mattias Ekström. Then, Petter Solberg took advantage of the fact that Timerzyanov could not pick up the pace and also came forward, and at the end of arrival of Russians walked and Sebastien Loeb.

But at this point of arrival leader Andreas Bakkerud it was already far ahead. Norwegian calmly and confidently brought the final round to win — the first for himself this season.

Second place went to Timmy Hansen — the Swede is gradually regaining its former shape. But if last year he led the fight with Petter Solberg for the victory in the series, it is that only comes seventh in this season — he scored twice less points than series leader Mattias Ekström.

By the way it Ekström finished third on the Norwegian stage for the rally-cross World Cup. And the most interesting — not even managing to win or finish second Mattias managed not to spoil his position in the individual competition series!

The fact that the rider closest rivals Team EKS RX for the championship is Petter Solberg, Sébastien Loeb and Johan Kristofferson.

The Norwegian finished the stage in fourth position on the Helle, the Frenchman was fifth, while fellow countryman Matthias has not passed to the final, finishing fourth in the first semi-final race.

The final:

The world rallycross fairly complicated system of counting points — the final number is the sum of points obtained for the performance in each of the stages of races.

For the Norwegian race Ekström, Solberg and Loeb got twenty points each — that is, breaks in the top three have not changed. But Kristofferson scored only 13 points and his gap to the leaders has increased.

The greatest number of points — thirty — was the winner of the fifth stage of Andreas Bakkerud, but this year there were two Norwegian failing race in Germany and Belgium, where he scored, respectively, seven and three points. Therefore, even three decades earned in the home race points is not much a better position — rider team Hoonigan Racing Division occupies the fifth place in the championship.

The Russian Timur Timerzyanov received for her performance in Norway 22 points — more than Ekström ahead of him in the final, Solberg and Loeb. At the end of the race in Helle Kazanets divides the championship in eighth place with Robin Larson.

The next stage of the world championship on rally-cross will be held from 1 to 3 July in Sweden — this race will be the home for just seven members Series: Mattias Ekström, Johan Kristofferson, Timmy and Kevin Hansen, Robin Larsson and Anton Marklund.
