Subaru WRX STI: a record at the Isle of Man

A new record of racing at the Isle of Man now belongs among car sedan Subaru WRX STI.
The car was piloted by Mark Higgins, a three-time winner of the British Rally Championship (in combination — stunt «Bond»), which this time has surpassed its own record by nearly 2 minutes.
Higgins overcame a 60-kilometer route in 17 minutes 49.75 seconds at an average speed of 204.3 kilometers per hour.

On the same day it has been set yet another record for the race, but on a motorcycle. Michael Dunlop on BMW S1000 RR overcame the distance in 16 minutes, 58.254 seconds. This result became an absolute record.

As for the Subaru WRX STI, the record for the arrival of her prepared with the participation of Prodrive engineers. Special version is equipped with a modified 600-horsepower 2-liter boxer turbo engine. Among the improvements — installing gearbox from the rally car with gear ratios selected for maximum speed, upgrade the suspension, improved aerodynamics thanks to a new body kit and system for reducing the drag (DRS), which is activated from the passenger compartment by means of a simple button.
In addition, the car shod in slick tires Dunlop Sport Maxx in the UK touring championship.

It remains only to recall that Higgins owns two record on the same track. In 2014, he was on a standard Subaru WRX STI with road tires has shown results in 19 minutes 15 seconds at an average speed of 189 kilometers per hour. In 2011 — 19 minutes 37 seconds.
