The flagship Audi A8 hybrid sedan will get a 3.0-litre diesel-powered V6.
Audi’s chief technical officer, Ulrich Hackenberg, has confirmed the information that the company’s engineers are working on building a new hybrid powerplant. It will make its debut together with the A8 e-tron model. In future, the plug-in hybrid system will appear in the Q7 SUV and Audi A6 lineup.
Ulrich Hackenberg has not gone into details, however, according to speculations, the powerplant will comprise a V6 engine used in the Audi RS5 TDI coupé. Peak output of the system is said to be about 368 hp and 700 Nm of torque. The electric-only driving range should be about 50 km.
