Mercedes-Benz with an eye to the supercar

German companies are the winds set off to catch up with sports cars: BMW decided on a series of conceptual i8, Audi to try on the R8, of which up to mid-engine sports car at hand. Mercedes-Benz in this series is no exception.
Confirmation of this — published in Autocar statement by AMG Tobias Moers.

Mid-engine supercar project could well become a bridge between civil, traffic patterns and the «formulary» fireballs. That continuity was evident hypothetical supercar should be equipped with a hybrid power plant on the basis of petrol «Six» (like a track car).
In a similar way already went Porsche, McLaren and Ferrari. If the venture is successful, the AMG will compete with McLaren 650S and BMW i8. Sports car (possible options coupe or roadster) are going to build around a carbon frame with aluminum body panels. It is possible, as suggested by Autocar, AMG will return to the doors of the iconic «gull-wing».
