Ferrari’s engineers have created a new steering technology and have already patented it. However, it is still an open question, whether it will be used in sports cars.
Well, of course, there are no drastic changes in the entire system of the steering wheel. However, according to Evo, steering might become more linear and consistent, providing a distinct feedback from the wheels.
Ferrari claims it has eliminated a delay between the driver's input on the wheel, response at the front wheels and change of trajectory.
Electronics is the major assistant here. It calculates the angle and torque applied to the steering wheel. After that, the data is transferred to electric servo, which makes the necessary corrections. End of story.
There is no word yet how exactly the company is going to use the new technology or in what Ferrari models it will be put. According to Ferrari’s representatives, this system is inexpensive and doesn’t require large processing power.
