The model received the designation Mazda MX-5 RF (retractable fastback — «retractable fastback») and a distinctive body type. Unlike conventional coupe-cabriolet with a folding top, a novelty in the rear sides and rear glass remain in place, reminding Targa models from Porsche. The roof can be folded at speeds up to 10 km / h.
