Mike Dunn — the new president of IHRA

For fourteen years he was one of the leading journalists who covered the NHRA events on ESPN.

Last year, all the rights to broadcast from the association's Event the most ambitious in the world of drag racing switched channel FOX Sports, and the brightest person in the media space theme was shown the door. Fans of races in a straight line were perplexed, and the Internet is literally boiled from disgruntled comments and unflattering epithets addressed to the NHRA top. What it is not surprising, because Dunn is the owner of twenty-two Wally, one of fifteen pilots who won in both classes of nitromethane, and during his long career also had to be noted as chief mechanic and team manager. The deepest involvement in the process for several decades simply leaves no ground to doubt the competence and professional fitness presenter. But Mike himself said, «When one door closes, a window thrown open.»

More recently, it became known that the veteran did one of those proposals on which simply did not refuse, and in mid-February Dunn successfully took over as president of IHRA (International Hot Rod Association) — the third largest association in American drag racing, which, it is worth noting, is going through the best of times.

For me it was a great surprise, a challenge, if you want. I've never dealt with something like that at such a high level. But it's all — of our favorite things. I've got a chance to help the industry as a whole, to attract more people interested and more young people to the sport. A IHRA is an excellent tool that helps us to achieve their goals. At the moment, we have a well-articulated strategy for development of the organization, all the necessary facilities and the sea of enthusiasm...
Mike Dunn:
Executive Director IHRA Chris Lenthesky, in turn, said: «Mike has agreed to all the conditions after the fifteen-negotiation. During this time he did not ask a single question about the size of his salary. So I can say with certainty that the money — it was not what he thought, taking a decision. In the future I hope to have a full understanding and productive cooperation. I do not have any reason to doubt that we made the right choice. „
