One of the most successful Formula1 car engineers can take part in Infiniti supercars development.
Definitely Adrian Newey’s engineering background cannot be wasted even though Adrian stated that he is terminating his career. And the problem is not only in the pension age but in the direction taken by Formula 1 management and he does not like new technical regulations: “I’m going to reduce my input into Formula 1” — says Red Bull Racing technical director. “I’ll take the role of the tutor and our engineers will be able to ask me for advice and I hope I can influence on new developments. Anyway my retirement will occur after 2014 season and all engineering actions will be held under my control. I will keep my bureau in the team HQ but my primary working place will move to new Red Bull technological centre.”
According to Top Gear information there is nothing contra Adrian’s movement to Nissan sportcars division to develop Infiniti supercars. Moreover, for the Gran Tourismo game he had already created Red Bull X1 and X2014 concept-cars.
Nissan vice-president Andy Palmer commented this situation: ”Adrian is going to make something absolutely new and we are going to give him such opportunity in terms of technology exchange program with Red Bull team. You should understand that thing do not happen immediately so follow our news.”
