Gorilla Glass — the glass, which is developed by Corning for screens of mobile gadgets. It will now not only in smartphones, but in superpenalties. The automaker claims that the GT coupe will be the first production model to use this technology.
It attracted Ford so that the windshield to its application to a third lighter, thinner by 25–50% and 3 times stronger than any other conventional glass which is installed on automobiles.
Moreover, it conveys an increased resistance to scratching, the ability to absorb shock and noise. The latter circumstance was the reason that Gorilla Glass will be used not only as a windshield, but also as a transparent partition separating the engine compartment from the passenger compartment.
