Hero of the article — Nissan 200SX 1996. Today, it has a carbon fiber body, an incredible motor and the fans on the Internet around the world. The first thought that it was built in Japan or the US, but it was created by a small group of experts in the field of American hot-rod from northern Italy.
Its history began 20 miles from Venice, behind the doors of the Italian tuning studio Brill Steel Motorsport. But experts Brill Steel did not use the engine from a Ferrari or Lamborghini for their offspring. They chose the American engine GM V8, used on Mercury in 1951. Why the decision was taken no one says, however, the team set about changing the Japanese coupe cost $ 3,000.
The owner and a specialist in working with motors Brill Steel Enrico Sartori said: «We like to drift, and we love the time-ATTAC». For the staff, this was a second car for drifting. They have already prepared the E36 M3 for the discipline of motor racing in 2008, but so was born the idea of building a Nissan: «Three years ago I bought the chassis S14 and decided to install the LS, in the car Formula D».
Sartori and team members using Brill Steel engineer Ferrari from Maranello were able to get access to the production of the best stainless steel, which can be bought in Europe. With this they began to set up its own roll cage, which could be the envy of participants in the World Rally Championship.
Sartori found on aftermarket suitable chassis, but he did his best to look like a car for Lamborghini in their data. He made a full carbon body, and at the widest point from one side to the other vehicle a distance of almost 7 feet. Design S14 has been updated to resemble the style of the S15, which attracts Sartori. The car has got a tremendous rear spoiler, typical for parties Gallardo Super Trofeo — the element that did not need a car drifting, but adds to his aggressiveness. All body parts were custom made of carbon fiber, it is possible to much improve aerodynamics, however, change significantly felt at a speed exceeding 80 miles. In total, now the car weighs a little more than one ton.
Under the hood is the last process of Rebild engine from Corvette LS3, which took place under the leadership of the process improvements Sartori. His team was able to bring the power of almost 1,000 horsepower, nearly 300 «mares» more than originally gave this motor. To cope with Brill Steel S14, built for drift, it is important to take into account the subtleties of the suspension to keep on the road and control of the vehicle. The main change was the installation of coilovers Bilstein. Sartori and his team have made a special stretcher by hand to stiffen the chassis and install a new rear suspension from Winters Performance. Adjustable levers Track Day Performance S14 added the possibility to change the angle of rotation, and can increase the threshold for the steering lock.
Brill Steel is specialized in not Nissan. Sartori is always the first thing said that does not hide its sympathy for the American oil-Karam: «We love doing tuning Corvette, Viper and Mustang». «But we were able to realize the potential of the Japanese auto industry, using crazy V8».
