Head of BMW Harald Krueger said that will soon be released in a series of open version of the hybrid i8.
Earlier, in the spring of 2012, has already been shown a concept car i8 Spyder with a removable translucent roof and windshield with an integrated spoiler.
Currently Kruger did not disclose details of new products, because it is not known whether it will be different from the concept.
Apparently, the car will be equipped with a stuffing from a coupe with a 1.5-liter turbo engine produces 231 hp electric motor and batteries. Total powerplant produces 362 hp and is paired with a 6-step «mechanics». On dispersal to first hundred coupe requires 4.4 seconds, and top speed — 250 km / h.
Incidentally, this power unit has won the annual competition «International Engine of the Year».
