German tuning studio Gabura Racing Technologies to work on hybrid BMW i8. The result of this dedicated work under the hood of the car turned out to be an experimental 4.4-liter twin-turbo «eight», borrowed from the BMW M6.
The engine took the place left vacant by the electric motor. «Eight» on M6 produces 560 hp, but its impact i8 sports car increased by 200 forces. The engine is combined with a six-speed sequential gearbox, which experts tuning studio specializing, by the way, on the preparation of racing transmissions, placed behind.
Other specifications are still unknown, the project is still in operation.
Recall the standard powerplant of the BMW i8 is a 1.5-liter three-cylinder engine produces 231 hp and 131-hp electric motor, 6-step «automatic» and accordingly the battery pack. Coupe overcomes hundred in 4.4 seconds and its top speed is limited to 250 km / h.
