Martin Ivanov, it seemed to me, a man completely happy. In the professional sense, he was lucky just twice. He can «perform» on cars is that not everyone knows how honored pilot. And he actively act in films. Even such major stars as Matt Damon and Daniel Craig and step without step can not, because all those cool tricks that the scenario laid done by the heroes who actually performs Martin.

Actually, thanks to the «spectrum» Martin was in Moscow, but because of the brand Jaguar Land Rover I was able to meet with him and a little chat: after the premiere in Moscow for guests JLR New opened center of Jaguar Land Rover Experience Martin with instructors center showed a whole show with staged stunts from the movie. There are fast and beautiful cars, real helicopters, stunts with explosions, chases, shootings and of course, the traditional duel between Bond and the villain.
— Martin, you are a former professional engaged in motorsports. Why cast and went into the stunt?
— Actually, I got into the profession through motor racing, which started back in Lithuania. In 1996 I became the champion of the Lithuanian winter racetrack and circuit races in the class VW Golf. In 1998–1999 he was the champion of the Lithuanian Rally Championship in the class front-wheel drive and took the 5th place in the overall classification. Then, in 2000, he appeared in the Russian rally team NIISHP, but it lasted only a year, and then the team disbanded and I was left with nothing. With motorsport's complicated: we need sponsors, and the crisis, which was then and is now, this is not conducive. My father — also a famous stunt, Victor Ivanov. In 2000, he invited me to shoot, I tried it, I liked it. In 2003 in Moscow, filmed «The Bourne Supremacy» and I thus began a Hollywood career.
— Was it difficult to shoot with such stars as Craig?
— Essentially there is no difference. For example, in «Quantum of Solace» Craig appears only in close-ups. All other stunt scenes I performed. So we almost do not overlap.
— How was shooting «Spectra»?
— In December we first met in London, where he was tested «Jaguar» on the track famous Top Gear. We had two weeks of testing there, and then another two weeks of tests in Austria — checked everything possible rubber shock absorbers, the suspension, but the main thing — the car on the snow. The main problem was that the snow on the slope was very gentle and the car immediately sank. To resolve this issue, local workers every evening before shooting slope watered with water, so it was freezing hard. We did, of course, for the entire day of shooting broke, so that the evening had to again do the same. As a result, immediately after the New Year we arrived on the set in Austria in the mountains, where they spent a month and a half, and then went to Rome and there filmed a month.
— Had to do a lot of takes?
— It depends. Some scenes were filmed in one take, some receive only a tenth. For example, in the city filming in Rome, where we hopped through the machine, we took one take, but when was the scene of the chase, and we slid down the stairs to the promenade, had to make about six takes. Unfortunately, in the film, this episode was a bit slurred, but the material that we shot with multiple cameras, looked great!
— Which episode was most unusual for you?
— This is probably the passage through the wall at an angle of 45 degrees: I had a very strange experience. We did about fifteen doubles: filming and boat, and in motion, and from static cameras. The rate should be kept at least 130 km / h, so that the machine does not «slipped» down, and there were a few rules. For example, when you go on the wall, it is necessary to do everything very slowly, you can not brake abruptly or sharply accelerate, otherwise the machine immediately «dumped».
— But, surely, for such surveys, and specially prepared vehicles? Or were these stock cars?
— Of course not. As for Jaguar, the only one on the set of a real C-X75. It was used in the pavilion for close-up shots of the actors. Its cost was about 10 million, and, of course, its cherished. For stunt filming was given another order of six such machines. But it was specially constructed vehicles that looked like the C-X75 only superficially.
In fact it was welded from pipe frame on which is hinged plastic panels. Inside, there was almost nothing. In addition, for example, my stunt Jaguar was equipped with five-liter turbo engine, which is mounted on the «Jaguars», and «Range Rover», and transmission fluid as F1 with petals at the wheel.
As for SUVs, which we filmed in Austria, they are specially trained in the division of SVR. They were equipped with special elements of strength, plus sports shock absorbers and suspension. Actually surprising, but these machines were broken and no problems with them almost was not. The only damage that I can remember — a suspension arm and embossed tire while shooting a scene where I'm on the C-X75 snoshu during chase scooter. It was necessary to turn to hold the Jaguar, that's come up.
— What's the coolest car, where did you go?
— Most liked Astom Martin DBS in «Quantum of Solace.» And in this series very interesting Jaguar, but it is much more difficult to manage. But both cars are very funny!
PS I think calling the coolest car, Martin impressed by just performing tricks for Jaguar just forgot about their experiences with the car, «Formula 1». Most recently, he participated in the filming of the movie, in which the tractor team Lotus F1 Team ski jumping, and under it at this point on the diagonal jumps «Formula».
