What about me? I was feeling nice as a chauffeur when my friend wanted to try the rear seat and I was a bit confused alone in the driver’s seat — in difference with other egoist cars this one considers someone’s presence. When you are driving alone you will feel better if you take a seat in a passenger rear seat.
Actually you will feel better on rear seat because in my opinion it is much more comfortable than the front one. Separate ‘capsule’ seats from the top option which we had in the test with flexible seat-backs up to 43.5 degrees angle looked very attractive, almost like chez-longs, so you can imagine that the waiter with a bottle of cool prosecco will appear. Frankly speaking, the waiter should be already included in the option list for the price of almost 200.000 Euros.

S500 in W222 grew a bit — there are extra 12mm above the driver’s head, the interval between the driver and front passenger grew from 10mm in elbows to 14mm in shoulders and back passengers have 9mm more in interval in comparison with previous S500. And there are lots of different functions which were reworked for the new body. Fuel consumption amazed — it is around 4.4 liters for 100 km in the highway. And you would not want use the accelerator, the only reason could be just demonstration of the great power of this machine to friends and passengers. However, it is better to not declare instant fuel consumption and in city cycle consumption grows 3 times in comparison with highway cycle.
Inside and outside lightening is realized by more than 500 LEDs. It also includes 7 variants of interior light from relaxing white to red and violet. By the way red lights are very stimulating.
I’m really grateful to constructors for one thing which I’m expecting from all others — stop-lights now are not so bright at night and while waiting green traffic light. I would advise other brands to take this idea. May be this feature for Mercedes-owner is indifferent but I was pleased by such care of around traffic.
New S-klasse is extremely high-tech car, but it is still quite far from VOLVO who is testing automobiles which can be driven without a man. But in the other hand, who will open the door for you if you have no chauffeur?
And it can recognize bad road with the ROAD SURFACE SCAN system and MAGIC BODY CONTROL prepares the suspension to the new conditions. Actually my friend from the back seat was not fully satisfied with this system, but this reminds me The Princess and the Pea fairy tale.
For me the main advantage of the new S-klasse became a complex of active and preventive safety systems which reduce the level of danger for the driver and passenger in case of road accident or even in case of such possibility. I’m not going to speak about it — this info is available at any showroom but I’m sure that safety systems are serious benefits for luxury cars and they are worth paying.
Nothing can make you upset when you own such big, sybarite and impressive car. Fast, beautiful and safe. And even neon interior light cannot reduce the positive impression of this car. In case you like Mercedes...
