A whole pile of documents with new Formula 1 regulations has been marked as “Approved”. Not all suggestions made by participants and organisers were ratified by the FIA World Motor Sport Council. Overall, FIA approved 18 proposals.
Re-start procedure will be changed in 2015. Safety-car periods will be followed by a standing re-start from the grid. The only exception is when the safety car is used within two laps of the original race start or if there are less than five laps of the race remaining.
The cars will be wearing titanium skid planks mounted under the floorpan for sparkling when touching the surface of the track. New nose design will be introduced to improve safety and aesthetics of the race cars. There are also changes in the number of engines permitted for each driver, aerodynamic testing, parc ferme time schedule, and curfew.
Winter pre-season tests will consist of four daytime sessions held in Europe only. One year later the number of sessions will be reduced to two. It will be possible to have two in-season tests of two days each.
Things are humming. Perhaps, we should expect even more changes coming up soon.
