Five months — so much time spent on the development of a conceptual coupe Sports Ride from the masters of motorcycle manufacturer Yamaha. In mass production it will be launched no earlier than 2020. The show car was presented at the Tokyo Motor Show, but without motor.
Sports car designed engineer Gordon Murray, from the pen of which was not only the previous concept Motiv.e, but also a real McLaren F1.
Yamaha Sports Ride is built on the technology of iStream — automobile assembly of prefabricated parts (body panels, chassis parts and power structure of the body). On the issue of one part only requires 100 seconds.
Sports car got the following dimensions: length — 3900 mm, width — 1720 mm, and the same in height. Installed steel frame with composite panels attached to it front and rear modules and plastic parts. Preliminary weight of the car is 750 kilograms, that's only power plant until the details have been reported.
«Low weight is the last frontier in the struggle for low emissions. We have made great strides in the development of engines, transmissions, tires and electronic systems. But low weight is still important for vehicles with internal combustion engines, but even more important for cars with electric and hybrid power plants, „- said Gordon Murray.
