Red Bull Racing consider purchasing Renault Sport division, which produces engines for Formula 1.

Previously, Red Bull team have criticised the current motors and were contemplating about building their own ones. Together with that, Renault feel like selling their division. Putting these facts together, Motorsport-Total assumed that Red Bull, who know all the weak points of motors, might soon start their own engine development on the base of the French engine-maker.

“A brand new power unit — perhaps badged as a Red Bull or Infiniti — could then be homologated for 2016. In theory it would be several steps ahead of what the regulations would allow Renault to update…”, says the British journalist Adam Cooper, referring to his own sources.
