For 35 years models of Porsche 911 Turbo have been remarkable and technically perfect providing its owners with the unforgettable feeling caused by the unusual engine configuration and great dynamic performance. Porsche 911 Turbo of the 997 series is not an exception and one of such cars will be described in this article.

Porsche 911 (997) Turbo rolls off the production line already having impressive characteristics. It is fitted with 3.6-litre six-cylinder engine outputting 480 hp, not least because of two turbochargers. Acceleration up to 100 km/h takes less than 4 seconds and the car’s top speed is about 310 km/h. More than decent characteristics for a car which can also be used on public roads all year round even in Russia — thanks to its full-wheel drive. It should seem enough for someone but as you know the sky’s the limit and the owner of the car referred to above began upgrading his Porsche for the upcoming Unlim 500+ event back in 2009.

As the competition entries of the Unlim 500+ participants were more than serious, it was decided to increase the engine's output significantly. The Russian representatives of the American tuning studio Switzer installed the tuning package P700/750R. It might seem strange but such complicated name of the package has a simple explanation — the numbers show the engine’s capacity after the upgrading, produced when using commercial fuel and high-octane racing fuel, outputting 700 and 750 hp consequently. Notable power increase affected the acceleration dynamics — up to 100 km/h in less than 3 seconds and up to 200 km/h in less than 9 seconds. Porsche gained the reputation of a very fast car and proved it by achieving multiple victories on different racing events and “duels” held on the so-called X-Strasse.

But as time went by, the “rivals” were also gaining strength and though it might seem paradoxical quite soon those 750 hp were not enough anymore to win. And as the owner of the car valued his reputation, it was decided to perform further power increase, reinforcement of transmission and all other components. The tuning studio Switzer was at that time introducing its new creation — a tuning package R911 which raised the capacity up to the incredible 900 hp when using high-octane fuel. The owner decided to install a more advanced tuning package instead of the previous one and the upgrading procedures began. Soon the new 911 rolled out into the night tracks of the capital for test races. Their results showed that the car became even faster.

Spring Unlim 500+ event was ready for an earnest “battle” — several cars with similar capacity applied for participation. However the owner of Porsche was confident and determined. During one of the races on the very first day he set 1 mile record time for road cars — 24.8 seconds. The promoters of the event could not believe in such result and blamed it all on the equipment error. But the next day the self-confident driver showed practically identical timing thus making everybody recognize his triumphant result. The owner of the Porsche got on top of the podium to a loud ovation.

Another victory achieved by this 911 was the best 1 mile time during the races held in Berlin where one could find the fastest cars from Europe and CIS countries. The owner of the car took the first place in 1 mile overall standings and defended honour of his native land during 1 mile Berlin races held on July 9–10, 2011.

For the moment the car is undergoing some long-running preparations as no tuning studio could suggest any tried and tested solutions for more than 1000 hp power increase. The car is right now being refined by Dragtimes tuning studio where Russian specialists do their best using their own resources and
